How Much Do Corporate Headshots Cost?

Corporate headshots cost roughly $150 to $600 per person for a professional studio session in most U.S. markets. Team shoots done on site at your office usually price lower per head, often $75 to $200, because the photographer sets up once and moves people through. Sessions built around hair, makeup, and several looks run higher, commonly $700 and up.

Those are typical ranges, not survey figures. Headshot prices vary by city, by studio, and by what lands in your hands at the end.

Headshot photography is priced on four inputs, not on the picture itself: the photographer’s time, controlled lighting, direction while you are in front of the camera, and the retouching afterward. Studios bundle those four differently, which is why photographers charge $99 in one quote and $750 in the next for what looks like the same picture.

Six Things That Move a Headshot Price Up or Down

Six variables explain most of the gap between a cheap quote and an expensive one.

  • Time in front of the camera. A 10 minute slot at a conference booth is a different product than a 90 minute sitting with outfit changes. We watch most people loosen up after the first stiff frames, and short slots often end there.
  • Lighting. A studio strobe setup with modifiers, standard in portrait photography, gives repeatable, flattering light. A window and a reflector are cheaper and far less predictable.
  • Direction. Posing and expression coaching is the skill people underrate most. It is also the difference between looking like yourself and looking like a hostage.
  • Retouching depth. Basic retouching goes fast. Deep skin, eye, and glasses work takes real time and gets billed for it.
  • Number of finished images. One retouched image or ten changes the price more than anything else on this list.
  • Usage rights. A file for your LinkedIn profile is priced differently from one your employer can run in paid advertising.

We tell every client before a headshot session that the number worth comparing is the price per usable image, not the session fee. A $99 sitting that produces nothing you would put on a company website costs more than a $350 sitting that gives you one frame you use for three years.

Price Tiers and What Each One Buys

Here is how headshot pricing splits and what each tier will usually cost. Use it to sanity check any quote.

TierTypical price per personWhat you usually get
Volume or event$50 to $1505 to 15 minutes, one look, one background, light or no retouching, files delivered in bulk
Studio standard$200 to $50020 to 45 minutes, one or two outfits, posing and expression coaching, one to three finished files
Premium branding$600 to $1,500Hair and makeup, no time limit, several looks and backgrounds, high end retouching, broader usage rights
AI appUnder $50You upload selfies, software generates the rest, no photographer, likeness accuracy varies

The AI headshot row deserves an honest note. Apps that spit out 100 headshots generated from phone selfies are cheap, quick, and sometimes enough for an internal directory. They still miss on likeness often enough that people who meet you notice. If the picture represents you to corporate clients, hire a human.

Per Person or Per Session: How Team Pricing Works

Team headshots get priced two ways, and the difference matters once you pass roughly eight people.

Per person. You pay a flat rate for each employee, often with the rate dropping as headcount rises. Easy to budget, easy to bill back to departments.

Per session or per day. You pay for the photographer’s day and everyone who shows up in that window is covered. Cheaper per head at volume, but no shows come out of your side of the ledger.

Ask what happens to the person who was home sick. Some studios add them later at the standard individual rate, others charge a second minimum for the return trip. Getting that answer in writing beats shaving $20 off the per person rate.

Consistency is the other thing worth negotiating. If half your team was shot on gray in March and the rest on white in July, the leadership page looks stitched together. Ask whether the headshot photographer logs lighting and background settings so new hires can match the existing set later.

On Site at Your Office, or in a Studio?

On site costs less per person at volume and more in setup. A photographer who has to travel to your office charges for the trip, the gear, and an unfamiliar room, then earns it back on headcount. A studio already owns the lighting, the backgrounds, and a mirror for last minute hair fixes.

Go on site if you have 10 or more people, a conference room with space to work, and no appetite for losing a workday. Go to the studio if it is a handful of executives, you want real background and wardrobe choices, or the pictures will run on company websites.

Budget note: on site pricing usually covers travel inside a set radius and adds a per mile charge past it. Ask where that line sits before assuming the whole Twin Cities metro is covered.

What Is Included and What Costs Extra

Hair and makeup

Professional makeup is sometimes bundled, usually not. Photographic makeup is a different technique than daily makeup. Your eye reads the face and neck as the same color, the camera does not, and hands that have seen sun sit further off again. A makeup artist working to the photographer’s direction evens that out. If it is not included, get the add on price in advance.

Retouching

Basic retouching is normally part of the fee: blemishes, flyaway hair, a stray thread on a lapel. Deeper work such as skin smoothing, teeth, glare on glasses, or borrowing a better expression from a second frame is often billed per image. Find out what “retouched” means at each studio before comparing quotes.

Digital files and usage rights

Most session fees cover shooting time and processing, not the delivered images. Extra files, prints, and canvases sit on top. Buying the copyright outright is expensive almost everywhere, so if your employer needs the picture for ads, newsletters, and recruiting posts, ask for a commercial usage license instead. Some photographers include the digital file with wall prints, often the cheaper route.

How Much Do Corporate Headshots Cost at a Minneapolis Studio?

Our own pricing for studio headshots is a working example of the middle and upper tiers above. At our Northeast Minneapolis studio the Signature Headshot is $250 and includes a phone consultation, a 30 minute sitting, up to two outfits, same day image review, and one high resolution image with high end retouching. The Personality Headshot is $350, with unlimited shooting time and unlimited outfit changes. The Beauty Headshot Session is $750 and adds professional hair and makeup with no time limit. Package details live on the Minneapolis business headshots page.

Wardrobe is the one variable that costs nothing and changes the result most. Read what to wear for a professional headshot before the session and you will get more out of whatever you spend.

Inna has four masters’ degrees in photography. She is a trained photography judge with over 20 years of experience as a full time photographer. Her work has been shown on the cover of PPA Magazine (Professional Photographers of America) and featured inside it. She speaks and teaches at conventions, and she has won dozens of national and international awards, listed on the awards and designations page.

Costs That Catch People Off Guard

Four line items often cost more than people plan for.

  • Rush delivery. Standard turnaround suits most people. Need the files this week and there is usually a rush fee.
  • Reshoots. If you do not like the results and the studio offers no guarantee, a second sitting is a second fee. Ask about that policy before booking.
  • Extra images. A package with one finished file sounds thin until you notice one is what most people use. Additional files are typically the biggest add on.
  • Your own calendar. Half a day of an executive’s time has a real cost. A tight shooting schedule protects it.

When two quotes look identical on paper, ask both studios the same three questions: how long is the sitting, how many finished files are included, and what does one more image cost. You can also send a pricing question before you commit to anything.

Is a Business Headshot Worth What It Costs?

Whether the cost of a headshot is worth it depends on where the picture goes. If it will sit on a company website, a LinkedIn profile, and a proposal deck for the next three years, a $350 sitting is a rounding error against what it represents for your personal brand. If you need something for an internal badge, do not overspend. Start by writing down every place the image will appear, then get two written quotes that spell out session length, number of finished files, and usage rights, and compare those instead of the headline number. That is the practical answer to what a corporate headshot costs, and it keeps you from paying twice. When you are ready to book, call (612) 200-8612 or start on the business headshots page.

Elegant vs risque boudoir styles compared side by side

Elegant vs Risque Boudoir: Which Is for You?

The difference between elegant vs risque boudoir comes down to three things: how much coverage you keep on, how hard the light is, and whether you look away from the camera or into it. Elegant boudoir stays more covered, uses soft light, and reads as restrained. Risque boudoir shows more skin, uses sharper light, and reads as bold. Same studio, same photographer, same process. The only variable is where you sit on that spectrum. Most people land in the middle.
